What is Clep?
If you are not a familiar with what the clep test is then you may be missing out on saving a tremendous amount of money as well as time from your college experience.
There are over 34 different clep subject that you can test out of, the benefit of taking a clep test is that if you can show that you have sufficient understanding to pass the exam it is assumed that you have previous knowledge or experience that you would have otherwise learned in the classroom. The great thing about taking the test is that you don’t have to necessarily have previous knowledge or experience you simply have to know how to study and use the practice tests that are given in the official study guide and you can pass the test and save yourself time and money.
Clep testing can be done by ordering an official study guide and in reading through the material as well taken 3 practice test and provided with each study guide. I personally would read through the study, twice, and then take the first practice test.
Then depending on how I did on the first practice test I would have a pretty good indication of how well I had retained the information that I read during the week. I would take each question that I missed from the practice test and look up in the study guide for the right answer. I would then we retake test number 1 in typically do very well. At that point I would move to test number 2 to determine if I was ready to take the official clep test.
If I didn’t do well on practice test number 2, I would repeat the process of practice test one looking for each of the answers I missed in ensuring what the right answer was. Then I would take the final practice test in typically pass that everytime. At that point I knew I was ready for the official clep test.
Following this model I was able to clep or test out of the entire years worth of college, I did this while attending other undergraduate classes so as to speed up my overall degree plan and graduation date. There are a number of clep tests that you should consider taking, for starters, start with the ones you have previous knowledge or experience, then look at the clep test difficult list and start with some of the easier tests. There are some that are very easy to pass as long as you follow the testing procedure that I outlined above using the official study guide no matter if you have previous knowledge or experience in a particular subject.
The speed and savings are a huge benefit to the overall college experience and clep testing is something that everyone should be doing during their undergraduate degree.
