Spanish Study Guide
The spanish clep test consists of a total of 120 question and must be completed in 90 minutes.
The great thing about this test is that you have the ability to earn 12 credit hours. You need to score 50 to pass the test, if you score between 50 and 62, you will be given 6 credit hours, if you score a 63 or higher, you will be given a full 12 credit hours.
I personally took this clep test and was able to earn all 12 credit hours. I dont speak spanish natively and basically never got above a C in high school spanish. Before you think this test is overly simple, I was able to pick up spanish while living in Peru for 2 years, this gave me the base of understanding oral and written spanish well enough to easily pass the test.
So, if you have done well in high school spanish or have a basic understanding of spanish this is a must take test for you. Think of the time and money you are able to save by earning 12 credit hours for less than $100.
Each clep test cost roughly $77 to take, in addition, there will be a sitting fee that the testing center will charge but that should be no more than $20. So, for less than $100 you can earn 12 credit hours? That is huge and can shave a enormous amount of time off of your degree plan.
Here is what you can expect if you plan on taking the spanish clep test.
60% will be based on reading comprehension
25% will be based on listening and answer questions based on the dialogue or short narative.
15% will be based on listening to rejoiner and answering basic questions.
The spanish study guide that will be your best tool is going to be the official clep guide for spanish. This guide can be ordered online or at a local bookstore and is easily the best resource available for you to prepare yourself.
The key, when preparing to take the test, is to read through the guide once, then take the 1st practice test. Based on how well you do on the practice test, you will know right away how prepared you are to take the real test. If you have any experience in spanish then chances are you will do well on this test and garner a feeling of confidence in passing the actually spanish clep test.
I would take, just for good measure, the additional 2 practice test to make sure you are completely comfortable and confident in the way they ask questions.
