Free Practice Exam
When I first learned about the clep test, I search all over for free practice exams in hopes I could prepare myself to take a few test. I quickly found that the best resource was not a free resource, the best resource is the official study guide for the subject you are planning on taking.
I personally tested out of a years worth of college by taking a number of clep test. I was able to pass each test that I took and earn anywhere from 3 to 12 credit hours (in the case of the spanish clep test).
There are over 34 subjects available to test out of, clep tests are accepted at over 3000 Universities and Colleges.
Personally, the way I studied and prepared for each test I took was pretty straight-forward and simple. I first looked at the available subjects and started with the the easiest tests as well as the tests that I had experience in.
I put together a list of tests I thought I would do well in or read that were easy, and then set up an appointment with my counselor. She helped me determine which test would fulfill which required credit hours I needed.
Once I had the list, I bought the study guide and read through it over the the week, during the weekend, I took the first practice test. I would go over each question I missed and read through the study guide to find the correct answer. Once I had done that I retook the same test to make sure that I could answer each question.
I then did the same thing for practice test 2 and 3. This method allowed me to not only pass every test I took but allowed me to pass exam that were relative easy but that I had no experience or strength in.
One of the test that I have no experience and in fact, would say is one of my weaknesses is Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. I have no idea, nor do I have any interest in, literature. However, by following the study method outlined above, I easy passed this test.
Make sure not to bother looking and wasting time looking for free clep test guides, use the official study guide that you can pick up at a local book store and follow the method I used and you will be able to save yourself a ton of time and money by testing out of many subjects.
