Clep testing centers
Over 3000 Colleges and Universities accept clep testing and grant full semester hours for passing the exam. Each College or University will have their own testing center located within the facility or have a designated testing center off campus that they can give you directions to.
There are ofter thousands of ancillary testing centers that are not operated by a College or University where you can take your clep test. You will need to call ahead of time and ensure that they have the ability to administer a clep test as well as send the testing results to your College.
Most clep exams are computer based, after the test, you will typically be given your score (unless its a subject that requires human reviewing of essays) right away. Each time I took a clep test, I was able to transfer, electronically, my score to the University I was attending without having to mail or physically give them anything.
Once the University received the scores, they automatically added the credit hours to my transcript. If your Universtiy does not have a testing center or designated third party that can act and administer the test, you can do a search for a local testing center here: http://getcollegecredit.com/institutions/search
If you attend any type of accredited school, you will not need to find an outside testing center. I personally took test at the University as well as an third party testing center and each was fine, it was just more comfortable knowing that I was taking a test within the University I was attending. Both times I took the tests, I had no problem getting the scores transferred to my transcript.
Make sure that you call your University and ensure that you set up an appointment prior to showing up, each time you take a test, the administrator will need to set up your computer and load the specific test you plan on taking. They have specific and detailed rules that need to be followed in order to stay in compliance.
Good luck!
