Clep Test Study
Clep Test Study
If you are considering studying to take the clep test, then the key to successfully passing is going to be your study methodology and being prepared.
I was able to test out of an entire year’s worth of college by studying and applying a specific study method, which I will outline here, saving myself an immense amount of time as well as money. One of the benefits of taking the clep test is that each test typically cost only around $77, many clep tests not only will grant you 3 credit hours for successfully passing but there are plenty that will grant 6 credit hours and even a few that grant 12 credit hours.
Another benefit of taking the clep test is that you do not have to worry about how well you score on the test, this means that whether you ace the test or barely passed the tests, no one will ever know. It is a pass or fail test. Typically you will need, out of a score ranging from 20 to 80, a 50 or higher to pass. I’ll be honest with you, there were some clep test that I did very well on and passed easily, however, there were some subjects that I had no background in and the only reason I passed was based on my methodology of studying in preparing for the clep test, and I barely passed those. But no one would know by looking at my transcript which ones I came close on and which ones I easily passed because I got full credit for each of them equally.
The study methodology that I applied was buying the official clep study guide from the local bookstore. I typically found that they did not carry many clep study guides even though I live in a very large city, once I knew what test I wanted to take, I would have them special order the book which usually took a week or so.
Once I had the official clep study guide, I would spend a week reading through it. This typically gave me plenty of time to read through the study guide and not feel rushed and hinder my ability to retain what I have read. Once had read through the study guide I would take the 1st practice test, each study guide comes with 3 practice test and each are going to be vital.
Based on how I scored on the 1st practice test I would have a very good indication of how well I retained the information that I read throughout the week, I would compile each question that I missed and instead of just looking at what the answer was I would go back through the book and actually find the answer. I found this method very helpful in actively engaging my mind to retain the question.
Once had done that for every question I missed on the 1st practice test, then I would ake practice test number 2. I typically found that I was close to passing practice test number 1, and after applying this methodology by the time I took test number 2, I would typically pass the practice test.
I would apply the same method for practice test number 2, compiling all the missed questions, and looking for their answers and then take practice tests were 3. I did this over a 7 or 8 day period of time just before I had the real test scheduled. This was much easier for me because I had put so much time and effort throughout the week studying and taking practice tests that I knew the material well even if a subject I had no previous experience or knowledge of.
By applying this method I passed everything the clep test they took. I eventually got to the point where they said I was no longer able to take any more tests because I had reached the limit on the amount of credits I was able to test out of or the amount of undergraduate classes that I needed for my particular degree plan.
