Clep Spanish
The clep test for Spanish has a time limit of 90 minutes. The great thing about the Spanish clep test is obtaining a score of 50 to 62 will earn you 6 full credits. However if you are able to obtain a 63 or higher you can earn 12 full credits.
I personally took the clep Spanish tests and easily obtained the full 12 credit hours. My Spanish background consisted of taking 4 years in high school and living 2 years abroad.
The cost is $77 plus a sitting fee, the sitting fees rarely costs more than $20 and if you are in the military you can take Spanish clep tests for free with tuition assistance.
The Spanish clep test is unique from some of the other that I took, in that you are also tested in your reading and comprehension ability but audio as well. For those who are familiar with Spanish this often is the easiest part of the test.
My advice to those who are considering taking Spanish club test is that unless you are familiar with the basics of Spanish and are comfortable to carry on a full-length conversation this test would not be one that I recommend. If you are familiar with the basics Spanish and can understand a conversation this test will be the easiest 12 credits you will order.
Earning 12 credits for less than $100 is by far the biggest bargain I was able to obtain during from all the tests that I took.
The test is broken up by 60% reading comprehension, 25% listening: dialogue and narratives, and 15% listening: rejoinders.
Some areas that you will need to focus on when preparing for the Spanish test, and keep in mind if you already are familiar with the basics of Spanish there’s really very little reason for a long period of preparation, are the following:
Vocabulary and sentence structure
filling in missing words
reading short stories and answering questions
listening comprehension through oral exchanges
listening comprehension of spoken narratives
My recommendation, to those like me, who dont natively speak spanish, would be to use the study guide for clep Spanish and browse through it in preparation for the practice test. How you score on your first practice test will give you a good indication if you are close to being prepared to take the test.
If you pass the practice test in the study guide, then I would make sure that you read once through the guide and take the others tests before you take the official spanish clep test.
If you natively speak spanish, there is no reason to even browse through the study guide or bother taking the practice test. You will breeze right through this test and easily earn 12 credit hours.
The reading comprehension and audio you listen to is very basic, the best part of all, they speak very slow so you cant possibly misunderstand them.
