Clep Practice Test
If you were looking to save money on tuition costs as well as save a tremendous amount of time, than taking a clep test is one of the best things you can do to accomplish both.
The College Board has developed over 34 subjects that allow you to test out of if you are able to show that you have the understanding and knowledge of the subject that is taught over entire semester. Clep tests are accepted at over 3000 institutions of higher education, Universities, and Colleges. The great thing about taking a clep test is that you don’t even have to be enrolled in any particular college or even accepted yet. You can successfully pass the test and then transfer those credits once you determine which college or university you will be attending.
Clep examinations typically range from 3 credit hours all the way up to 12 credit hours, this is a substantial savings considering that the typical clip test is only $77. The only additional fees will apply is a sitting fee based on where you are taking the test. Most colleges and universities or third-party testing centers are set up to administer the clep test, most don’t charge more than $20 for their sitting fee. If you were to compare this cost of less than $100 to what it would take in time, as well as full tuition cost, to earn anywhere from 3 to 12 credit hours it is a substantial savings.
If you are considering taking a clep test and are looking for a clep practice test than the best place to go is to the official clip study guide. I was able to pass a number of clep tests and I found that the most effective way to prepare myself and study to pass those tests was not worrying about online practice testing sites but simply buying the official clep study guide, spending the week reading through the material, and then taking the practice test.
Each clep study guide comes with 3 practice test, you should use these to determine how ready you are for the official tests and gauge yourself for areas that you need to go back to the official clep study guide and better prepare yourself.
The scoring system used by clap makes it easy for you to pass the test, typically the scores range from 20 to 80, and a score of 50 or higher will be required to pass most tests. The great thing about the clep test is it simply pass or fail, in other words, your percentage score is not reflected on your transcript, you either get full credit or nothing at all. This helps so that you don’t have to worry how well you score on each test, you simply have to worry about passing. Even if you were to pass with a 51, if you were to calculate that from a percentage that would not be a great score and would most likely decrease your overall GPA but with the clep tests you don’t have to worry about that, you simply get full credit and no one knows what your score is based on your transcript.
There are over 1300 testing centers throughout the United States, my recommendation would be if you are attending a college or university you need to work with your counselor to determine which clep tests are needed based on your degree plan and your counselor can set you up and give you a recommendation on what testing center to use. This way after the test, you can electronically submit your grade back to the institution and have it automatically transferred to your transcript.
There are discounts and special benefits for those men and women who are serving the United States, make sure to ask about those to see if you qualify.
