Clep Humanities
If you are considering taking the humanities clep tests then be prepared, not so much for a hard test, but a nearly impossible test to prepare for, which makes the tests actually pretty hard.
The humanities clep test has a time limit of 90 minutes and the 140 questions. The scoring model will range from 20 to 80 and you will need a 50 or higher to earn or pass and obtain the credit hours.
You will need to be familiar with architecture, dancing, film, performing arts, music, sculptures and paintings, visual arts, fiction and nonfiction literature, drama, poetry to name just a few.
The tests will be broken up into a number of categories. 10% of the tests will be based on architecture, 10% of the test will be based on performing arts, film and dancing, 20% of the test will be based on visual arts including but not limited to paintings and sculptures, 10% in the test will be based on nonfiction literature, 10% test will be based on drama, 10 to 15% and that test will be based on poetry literature and 15 to 20% of the test will be based on fictional literature.
As you can see there many aspects of this test that you’re expected to know in the hard thing is such a broad subject that it becomes very difficult to prepare for.
Of all the clep test that I took, I did not attempt this. Not because I don’t have any previous knowledge of humanities, I actually took a number of clep tests that I have very little knowledge of but this one was different and here’s the reason why. The College Board has come out and actually said that this test will be on such a broad topic that it’s nearly impossible for someone to adequately prepare for the test before they take. In my mind, there is absolutely no reason to waste time trying to prepare for a test that you can be prepared for!
I would prefer to stick with tests that I can pass because I have knowledge or experience with or that I can prepare because of a defined outline is given of what I need to know in a specific subject matters covered that I can study and prepare myself for.
If you still are not convincing one take this test then not only do I wish you good luck but my best advice is to use the official clep study guide. There are a number of online websites that pretend to prepare you however the truth is none of them know what’s on the test and even the college for themselves have said you can be prepared but the next best tool to use to get somewhat prepared, at least, is the official clep test study guide for humanities.
