Algebra Clep

The college algebra clep exam consists of 60 questions with the time limit of 90 minutes and the required score to pass is 50 or higher.

The cost to clep college algebra is $77 for the clep test itself as well as the sitting fee that will be determined by the testing center you are using to administer the clep test. Traditionally the city fee it will not be more than $20.

The college algebra clep test covers areas that you would learn semester in one undergraduate from a college-level algebra course. The tests will give you the ability to show that you have entered understanding of basic algebra problems, inequalities, linear/quadratic equations and logarithmic functions.

The college algebra clep test is not that difficult for those who have a good understanding and grasp of college-level algebra. The key in order to pass the college algebra class tests is to make sure that you use the official study guide and get a refresher on algebra. If you’re anything like me the last time you really studied and had a refresher in algebra was in high school. What I found to work best for me personally was to use the official study guide and read through the material. It didn’t take long before I started to remember how to solve many of the problems and a lot of the high school education came back to memory.

The 3 tests that are given so that you can use as a practice guide are invaluable for this particular test. Just taking the 1st test practice test, you will have a very good understanding of how close you are and how prepared you are to take the real exam.

Here’s a breakdown of the items you’ll need to have a solid understanding and grasp of:

About 50% of the examination will be solving for routine and straightforward problems the other 50% of the exam will be solving nonroutine problems requiring understanding and application of basic algebraic equations and formulas.

25% of the test will be based on algebraic operations such as: expanding polynomials and factoring, algebraic expressions and operations, operations with exponents, and properties of logarithms.

25% of the tests will be on inequalities and equations. Be sure to be familiar with inequalities and linear equations, inequalities and quadratic equations, inequalities in absolute value equations, logarithmic equations and exponentials and finally inequalities and systems of equations.

20% of the test will be operations and number systems, such as sequences and series, complex numbers, real numbers, binomial theorem and factorials, and 2 x 2 matrices.

The remaining 30% of the tests will be on functions and their properties. Items that you need to be familiar with our inverse functions, graphs and their properties, functions of algebra, range and domain, definitions and interpretations, and modeling and representation.

Here are some sample test questions that you can get a good idea of the type of questions you will find in the official study guide as well the real practice test, be sure that these come natural to you and you’re able to easily find the answer to each of these.

Sample Test Questions
The following sample questions do not appear on an actual CLEP
examination. They are intended to give potential test-takers an
indication of the format and difficulty level of the examination
and to provide content for practice and review. For more sample

Credit Recommendations
The American Council on Education has recommended that
colleges grant 3 credits for a score of 50, which is equivalent to
a course grade of C, on the CLEP College Algebra exam. Each
college, however, is responsible for setting its own policy. For
candidates with satisfactory scores on the CLEP College Algebra
examination, colleges may grant credit toward fulfillment of a
distribution requirement, or for a particular course that matches
the exam in content. Check with your school to find out the score
it requires for granting credit, the number of credit hours granted
and the course that can be bypassed with a passing score.
